MSI has just showcased its latest addition to the growing line of Wind portable PCs, with the formal introduction of the new Wind U200. At a press event in Taipei, the Taiwanese manufacturer presented its latest CULV-based laptop, the Wind U200, officially confirming the leaked details that surfaced on the Internet yesterday. The laptop further expands the company's line of ultraportable PCs, adding a more powerful 12-inch system that has been designed to incorporated Intel's CULV platform, by comparison to the Atom platform used in other Wind PCs.

The new Wind U200 from MSI features a 12-inch 1366 x 768 pixel LED-backlit display and is powered by the Celeron ULV SFF 723 processor. Based on Intel's GMA 4500M graphics chip, the ultraportable laptop is ready to deliver support for 2GB of DDR2 memory, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connectivity, a 250GB hard drive and the usual array of ports. Unfortunately for those who were looking forward to an internal optical disk drive, this Wind PC hasn't been equipped with one.

MSI's Wind U200 appears to come as a mix of netbook and CULV ultra-thin portable PC, featuring specifications similar to the company's X-Slim series, but being part of the Wind family. Although there aren't any details regarding pricing or a possible release date, the 1.4kg notebook is expected to be showcased at Computex, starting on June 2nd, by which time MSI could reveal more.
