The mobile workstation is one of those products where price is a minor concern, because the hardware is supposed to be the best, or close to it, so cost isn't really expected to be kept down. MSI has just released its latest series of such laptops.

There are four of them, to start with, and they are being marketed under the WT Series, which is the third line of mobile workstations that Micro-Star International has put together. It has four members: WT70-20K, the WT70-20L, the WT60-20K 3K IPS, and the WT60-20J.

All of them are powered by an Intel Core i7 Haswell central processing unit and have the same range of memory customization options, the top capacity being of 32 GB when all four SO-DIMM slots are filled with DDR3 modules.

Storage-wise, you can have three 64 GB SSDs or three 128 GB SSDs, plus one HDD of 750 GB or 1 TB on top of the solid state storage.

Moreover, Killer K2000 NIC networking is available on the MSI WT20 systems, along with 802.11 ac WLAN (Wi-Fi).

There are two things that set each workstation apart from the others: the display (size and quality play a factor) and the discrete graphics cards.

The WT70-20K measures 17.3 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The GPU driving the display is the NVIDIA Quadro K3100M graphics with 4 GB.

The WT60-20K 3K IPS has the same graphics card as above, but a 15.6-inch IPS screen instead of a 17.3-inch one, and with a resolution of 2880 x 1620 pixels to boot.

Meanwhile, the WT70-20L (17.3-inch Full HD display again) boasts the Quadro K4100M graphics card with 4 GB memory, while the Quadro K2100M graphics with 2 GB memory is found inside the WT60-20J (15.6-inch Full HD screen). Finally, the newcomers weigh between 3.5 kg / 7.71 pounds and 3.9 kg / 8.59 pounds.

Sadly, the prices of the MSI WT Mobile Workstations haven't been disclosed, but as we said, they will be high. They always are for products like this, of $1,000 - $2,000 / €1,000 - €2,000 to start with. They will go higher the more you add, especially if you choose the larger-capacity SSD options, since solid state drives continue to be among the most expensive PC parts.

Speaking of which, the three SSDs, whether they are of 64 GB or 128 GB, are set up in SuperRAID mode, so that the PC sees them as a single entity.
