With two hard drives and exclusive MSI technologies

NVIDIA has not yet managed to launch its Fermi-based GeForce GTX 470 and 480 cards with DirectX 11 support, not to mention mobile versions meant for laptops. AMD, on the other hand, already has a rather complete desktop HD 5000 series and even notebook solutions. One of these is now being used in MSI's latest gaming notebook, the GE700. This mobile computer brings together high-tier graphics, processing and memory capabilities and merges them with advanced power-management features, aiming to strike a balance between uncompromised performance and battery life.

The new notebook is powered by an Intel Core i5 central processing unit and the HM55 chipset. This CPU is backed up by up to two DDR3 SODIMM memory modules, making sure that the processing and memory capabilities are on the same level as the ATI Radeon HD 5730 graphics. The laptop is suitably large, with an HD+TFT LCD screen measuring 17.3 inches, and can even come with not one but two hard drives.

The HDD itself, or themselves in this case, can have storage capacities of 250GB, 320GB and even 500GB. As for connectivity and I/O capabilities, MSI gave its product four USB ports, an eSATA connector, HDMI out, D-Sub, 802.11 a/b/g/draft n, Bluetooth V2.1 + EDR and a 4-in-1 card reader. Not only that, but the notebook even has advanced audio capabilities, provided by two theater-class speakers and a subwoofer.

Micro-Star International also outfitted its gaming notebook with its custom technologies, which enhance power efficiency and also boost performance. The GPU Boost Technology toggles between the discrete GPU and the integrated graphics chips, whereas the ECO Engine Power Saving Technology adjusts power management according to five self-explanatory modes of operation, namely Video Game, Film, Presentation, Word Processing, and Turbo Battery.

Unfortunately, the company has not made available any information regarding the pricing and release date of the device, although such details should surface soon.
