MSI might not be the biggest name on the notebook market, but it sure does try to deliver some of the latest technologies in computing hardware by releasing new and higher-performance systems. The most recent product in the Taiwanese company's range of 16-inch notebooks comes in the form of a Centrino 2-powered system that also equips an NVIDIA discrete graphics card for higher performance. The notebook, dubbed EX623, has been specifically designed to provide users with an MSI alternative to all those entertainment portable computers on the market.

In terms of technical specifications, the new notebook is clearly one of the best-equipped portable systems that MSI has to offer. Based on the latest mobile platform from Intel, Centrino 2, and  on one of NVIDIA's mainstream mobile GeForce solutions, the 9500M GS graphics card with 512MB of VRAM, the notebook is set to deliver a high level of computing performance. In addition, the system can also be featured with a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 memory, and with a high-capacity 320GB SATA hard drive.

Other features include a 2MP webcam, 3-in-1 card reader, DVD Super Multi or Blu-ray optical drive, a full-size keyboard, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless 802.11n connectivity with an optional Bluetooth module, as well as three USB 2.0 ports, modem connector, D-Sub and e-SATA support. Equipped with a 6-cell battery option, the notebook is said to weigh approximately 2.7kg. Speaking of which, users also have the choice of a higher-capacity, 9-cell battery. Unfortunately, the company hasn't revealed any details on the system's pricing and availability.

In related news, MSI's gaming-oriented GX620 notebook has just received an "Editor's Choice Award" from the Russian Igromania Magazine. The prize comes to recognize the design and performance features of MSI's GX620 gaming notebook, which is said to be ideal for both gaming enthusiasts and day-to-day users who are looking for a real desktop replacement.
