MSI has released quite a great deal of gaming-oriented laptops in the last couple of months, and the Taiwanese company shows no signs of wanting to stop its assault on this market as it recently announced the GT780DX with GeForce GTX 570M discrete graphics.

Weighting in no less than 3.9Kg, the MSI GT780DX is built around a 17.3-inch LED backlit display that is available in both HD+ (1600x900) and Full HD (1920x1080) resolutions.

Under the hood of the MSI notebook, users will be greeted by one of Intel's fastest mobile Sandy Bridge processors, namely the Core i7-2630QM, which can be seconded by as much as 16GB of DDR3 system memory.

The Core i7-2630QM features four processing cores clocked at a 2GHz base frequency, which can ramp up to 2.9GHz in Turbo mode, 6MB of Level 3 cache memory, HyperThreading support as well as a dual-channel DDR3-1333 integrated memory controller.

As far as storage is concerned, the MSI GT780DX can be configured to feature as much as two hard drives with a spindle speed of 7200RPM, installed in a RAID 0 configuration, delivering up to 1.5TB of storage space.

A DVD burner also complements the standard version of the GT780DX, but users can also opt for a Blu-ray drive if they so desire.

As mentioned previously, graphics is handled by an Nvidia-built discrete GPU, the GTX 570M to be more precise that is coupled with 1.5GB of fast GDDR5 video buffer, while the audio sub-system is comprised of two regular speakers and a Dynaudio subwoofer.

The rest of the features list includes a LED backlit illuminated keyboard developed in collaboration with SteelSeries (which sports quite a great deal of gaming-oriented features), a pair of USB 3.0 ports, eSATA and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, HDMI 1.4 and VGA video outputs as well as a 9-cell battery pack.

Right now, MSI hasn't provided any information regarding the price, or the release date, of the new laptop, but we can assume that the MSI GT780DX will reach retail shelves sometime later this month, right in time for the back to school season. (via Notebook Italia)
