It needs to overcome ASRock though, and it might not be all that easy

Currently, ASUS, Gigabyte and ASRock, in that order, hold the top spots in the ranking of motherboard makers.

ASRock is expected to achieve shipments of 8 million motherboards worldwide in 2013.

And that's just the third greatest figure, since Gigabyte and, more than that, ASUS will ship even more, unless some calamity strikes, and even then it's a tossup.

As such, in order to achieve its goal and become the third greatest supplier of motherboards in the world (again), Micro-Star International will have to exceed 8 million by year's end.

MSI shipped 2.8-3 million units in the first half, below the 3.7 million of ASRock. So there's still a difference but not as huge as it might have been.

For 2013, MSI will ship 6-7 million. So it won't become number 3 this year, but next year it just might.
