The graphics cards work faster than normal by a fair bit

The new GeForce GTX 980 and 970 graphics cards from NVIDIA, based on Maxwell GPU architecture, work at 1,126 MHz base / 1,216 MHz GPU Boost and 1,050 MHz / 1,178 MHz, respectively.

Even in their base state, the cards rule the market they sell in. The GTX 980 is notable for having a fair few disadvantages compared to GTX 780 Ti but beating it regardless.

That didn't stop NVIDIA's OEMs from overclocking the things though. We've already seen the ASUS Strix series, and now I'm bringing you the MSI OC V1 line.

The two graphics cards are called GTX 970 OCV1 and GTX 980 OCV1. The former works at 1,152 MHz base / 1,252 MHz Boost, while the latter is a 1,152 MHz / 1,252 MHz device.

Not very high overclocks, all told, but these things never do have truly massive tweaks anyway. It's actually impressive that MSI managed to implement them without outfitting the boards with a more hardcore cooler.

The new cards should stick close to the prices of $550 / €550 (GTX 980) and $330 / €330 (GTX 970).

In addition to these two boards, MSI also released the Gaming 4G series. These cards have dual-fan black and red coolers and are faster: 1,216 MHz base / 1,317 MHz Boost for the GTX 980 Gaming 4G and 1,140 MHz base / 1,279 MHz Boost for GTX 970 Gaming 4G. You can find info on all the boards on the MSI website.
