Micro-Star International is know to have brought out its fare share of bleeding-edge computing and gaming solutions, but it seems as though it has become somewhat more active in the area of gaming mobile PCs lately. Just around the start of the ongoing month, the PC and hardware maker reintroduced the mighty GT660 gaming machine. Its massive specifications had just a single so-called drawback, namely the lack of DirectX 11 support. Now, MSI has remedied this slight oversight by unveiling the GX660(R).

Since it puts more emphasis on performance instead of portability, the notebook weighs 3.5 kilograms and measure 396 (L) x 269 (W) x 55 (H) mm. What lies inside is definitely of note, however. The central processing unit is part of Intel's Core i7 series and is backed up by up to a massive 12GB of memory. Also, the device can be equipped with one or two hard disk drives of 500GB, which can be configured in RAID 0. This should be enough for all the high-capacity games that end-users may load onto their machine.

Needless to say, the graphics solution is one of, if not the most important part, and MSI speared no expense and provided the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870. This discrete card has 1GB of VRAM and will be well serviced by the 15.6-inch display, whose 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution means that the video card's full HD gaming and video capabilities won't go to waste As for connectivity and I/O options, the PC maker threw in the obligatory Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a pair of speakers and a subwoofer with Dynaudio sound technology and a HD webcam. Even USB 3.0 connectivity is present.

The MSI GX660(R) has a number of LED lights around its edges and is kept operational by a 9-cell battery. Unfortunately, pricing and availability details have not been disclosed as of yet.
