MSI has barely announced the powerful GX70 / GX60 Destroyer gaming notebooks and a refresh of the original models is already available for customers.

The new models now include AMD A10 processors, AMD Radeon R9-M290X graphics and to keep things interesting MSI has also added a bunch of extra gaming feats.

The two laptops are also the first gaming machines to come equipped with the company’s own Dragon Gaming Center, which can be launched by virtue of touching a simple key on the keyboard.

If the name doesn't sound familiar to you, the Dragon Gaming Center is a system in charge of assessing the system in order to provide gamers with optimal performance and speed capabilities, by determining the current gaming environment and removing unnecessary applications to increase performance.

The larger and more expensive of the two, the GX70 comes with a 17.3-inch screen with an HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and equipped with Blu-ray optical drive (reader), Wireless N, Bluetooth connectivity (AW-NB114H), three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports.

On the other hand, the GX60 has a 15.6-inch display with the same resolution, but compared to the model above, it offers a DVD Super Multi optical drive. It’s a little lighter than the GX70, weighing 7.7 lbs / 3.4 kg, as opposed to 8.6 lbs / 3.9 kg.

Now taking a look in the specification garden, both models run on AMD’s A10-5750 processors clocked at 3.5GHz combined with 8GB of RAM, Radeon R9-M290X (2GB GDDR5) graphics, backed up by a solid 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive.

Further specs include Killer E2200 game networking, SD card reader, audio ports, HDMI output, 720p HD webcam and a SteelSeries gaming backlit keyboard. The default operating system on board is Windows 8.1.

If any of these two powerful gaming models appeal to you, you should know they don’t come cheap, with the 17.3-incher costing $1,399 / €1,034 while the 15.6-inch model is priced at $1,299 / €960.
