A few days ago MSI’s upcoming super-powerful GT80 Titan laptop leaked online thanks to a Swedish website.

The first image of the new gaming beast surfaced showing us a notebook with a peculiar keyboard design which, we were told, was a Cherry MX Brown one produced by Steel Series.

MSI GT80 Titan is an interesting gaming laptop

Today, MSI itself announces the existence of the laptop. Better said, we’re just given a teaser of this interesting gaming machine, with a few details about what makes this gaming rig special sprinkled on top.

According to MSI, the GT80 Titan will be the first gaming laptop on the market to arrive with a mechanical keyboard.

Before you ask what the big deal is, we’ll tell you that a mechanical keyboard should bring about a superior tactile feedback, increased durability and an overall enhanced gaming experience devoid of annoying key jamming.

Furthermore, with the keyboard being of the Cherry MX Brown variety, it takes advantage of Cherry switches and a standard keycap with 27 mm / 1.06 inches of thickness.

MSI boasts that the keyboard is the lightest and slimmest you could ever hope to find on an 18-inch gaming notebook, but the thing is there aren’t a lot of them around, given that most gaming machines draw the line at 17.3 inches.

MSI notes the keyboard is 17% thinner and 22% lighter than its closest competitor, which is not mentioned by name. The GT80 Titan also comes equipped with SteelSeries Engine with CloudSync to allow users to save and synchronize settings by virtue of SteelSeries cloud storage.

MSI GT80 Titan specs remain unknown

But this initial press release doesn’t say anything about the GT80 Titan’s internal specifications. However, if we are to trust the earlier leak, the laptop should arrive with an Intel Core i7-4980HQ chip nested under the hood.

On top of that, the notebook will be fitted with two NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980M graphic cards in SLI configuration.

MSI doesn’t say squat about this, but we assume the information in the leak is pretty accurate. However, the report did leave out some important details.

For example, what resolution will the 18.4-inch giant bring to the table? How much RAM will it have and what storage options will users be able to find onboard?

Sadly, we can’t tell you at the moment, but MSI invites us to sign up on its official website to be the first to know when new information about this gaming behemoth pops up.
