While MSI has kept fairly quiet up until now at CES 2011, we're certainly waiting for a plethora of products coming from the company to be unleashed over the next few days (or hours), starting with the first new product to be actually made official by MSI, namely the GT680 gaming notebook.

As some of you might remember, the GT680 is not exactly a surprise product, given the fact that the first bits of information regarding its impressive capabilities have been leaked back in the first half of December 2010.

And now, as Ubergizmo reports, MSI has decided that its about time to officially present this gaming gem to the world, in all its ultra-powerful, ultra-portable persona.

Powered by Intel's 2'nd generation mobile Core CPUs (Sandy Bridge for laptops and notebooks), the GT680 also sports up to 16GB of RAM (which explains the impressive computing speed), accompanied by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M GDDR5 1.5GB graphics card, that should prove to be enough in order to cater for most gamers' needs.

Plus, in order to further enhance the notebook's speed, MSI has also thrown in the mix an 120GB SSD for OS booting, plus a choice of 500GB, 640GB or 1TB HDDs arraned in a RAID 0 configuration.

The MSI GT680 also comes equipped with a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 LED backlight display with webcam (in other words, it allows users to enjoy good-quality, Full HD content).

The gaming notebook also features plenty of connectivity options, including 1x HDMI, 1x VGA (output), 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, 1x eSATA, 1x ExpressCard/54, as well as a SD(HC/XC)/MMC/MS(Pro)/xD memory card reader, plus a 802.11 b/g/n WLAN + Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR module.

The notebook is powered by a 9-Cell Li-Ion Battery, which sorts of explains its dimensions (15.5 x 10.5 x 2.16 inches), and especially the weight of 7.7 lbs.

Unfortunately, no pricing or availability details have been yet provided, but you can expect this thing to be quite on the expensive side.
