Since Micro-Star International has made it something of a habit to periodically release new laptops, the company has now brought forth its latest computer, one known as the FX610MX notebook and powered by AMD.

Even though Intel central processing units are found in most laptops these days, Advanced Micro Devices seems to be scoring more and more design wins.

One of the latest PCs to adopt AMD's platform is one that MSI has put together and introduced through a press release.

Said system is the FX610MX and is powered by either a Phenom II X3 triple-core central processing unit (CPU) or an AMD Athlon II dual-core chip.

Whichever CPU is selected is backed up by DDR3 memory (exact capacity not spelled out in the announcement), while storage space is provided by a hard disk drive.

Said HDD can have an internal storage capacity of 320 GB, 500 GB or 640 GB. On that note, optical storage (and multimedia playback from disks) is delivered by a DVD writer.

Additionally, the 15.6-inch LED-backlit liquid crystal display is handled by a Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics card.

It should be noted that MSI threw in certain features meant to enhance the multimedia experience, such as the Cinema Pro and Premium sound, while energy efficiency is ensured by the ECO engine and GPU Boost technologies.

Other specifications include a multipoint touchpad, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, a 4-in-1 card reader and 'theater-class' speakers.

All in all, it measures 383 x 249.3 x 38mm and runs on the power provided by a 6-cell battery. As for the chassis itself, it comes with the totem seal coating.

The official press release states that MSI used the Windows 7 Home Premium on this new mobile computer but holds no details on pricing and availability.
