New motherboard for performance enthusiasts

MSI has announced today the official expansion of its line of high-end motherboards with the introduction of the new Core i7-supporting X58 Pro-E motherboard. Aimed specifically at motherboard enthusiasts and gamers, the new solution is ready to provide each user with a platform that can enable easy overclocking and also incorporate a series of unique features. Such features include the company's DrMOS and APS power supply designs, as well as the new Split Thermal system and the True Blu-ray audio enhancement.

As you might expect from a new Core i7-supporting motherboard, the X58 Pro-E from MSI is featured with the 1366 socket and comes with support for a QuickPath Interconnect speed of 6.4GT/s. Equipped with 6 DDR3 memory DIMMs and 3 PCI-Express 2.0 x16 graphics slots, the board offers support for the latest triple-channel memory and ATI CrossFireX ready multi-GPU graphics.

Additional features of the board include the new Split Thermal System, True Blu-ray audio technology and the Easy OC switch, a feature that will likely please all those overclocking enthusiasts, as it allows them to easily boost the performance of the system by switching to various overclocking levels. In addition to the specially designed cooling solution and the proprietary overclocking system, the X58 Pro-E also utilizes the ALC880 audio chip, which offers support for both 7.1 audio channels, but also for True Blu-ray audio decoding.

Unfortunately, the Taiwanese company hasn't released any details regarding the pricing and availability of its new board. However, you shouldn't expect it to be cheap, especially if you take into consideration that it has been designed for the enthusiast market, consequently for all those high-end users who don't mind going the extra mile to take advantage of the latest in hardware performance.
