Recently, we have been seeing countless new portable computer systems being released, thus confirming an increasing demand for notebooks in the worldwide PC market. However, despite their considerable number, most of these notebooks have one thing in common, namely that they are designed to take advantage of Intel's latest generation mobile technology, the Centrino 2.

Fortunately, there still are systems vendors that equip their latest portable computer systems with some of AMD's chipsets. On that note, Micro Star International has recently announced a new portable system based on ATI's RX690+SB600 chipset.

The newly released portable system has been built with a 17-inch display, capable of delivering an enhanced visual experience for all those multimedia fans out there. Simply dubbed EX710, the new notebook from MSI is equipped with a Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics card with 256MB of VRAM for impressive, realistic visual effects. The Radeon card, combined with the notebook's 17-inch WXGA+ Glare widescreen display, is capable of delivering a high-quality visual experience at a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900.

In addition, the new notebook from MSI can provide a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 667MHz memory and a high storage capacity of 500GB, on a SATA hard drive. The notebook comes with a standard DVD combo optical unit, but users can also choose an optional Blu-ray DVD unit. The EX710 also incorporates 4 speakers and 1 subwoofer, allowing users to fully appreciate a high-quality multimedia experience. There's also wireless 802.11 b/g with Bluetooth V2.0, a 5-in-1 card reader and a 1.3 MP web camera.

No word on pricing and availability for the time being, but you should know that the notebook comes equipped with a 6-cell battery, and weighs 3.2 Kg. In addition, the EX710 also features a full-sized keyboard, that sports a total of 103 keys. Keep an eye on this space for more details.
