Earlier this week, MSI has announced the debut of its new
'Classic' Series of portable computer systems, coming to provide customers with a choice for a mainstream portable PC. At the launch of the new series, MSI announced several new configurations, including a 14-inch model and two 17-inch models. On that note, the PC vendor has now
announced the expansion of its new 'Classic' series with the introduction of two new 16-inch models, the CX600 and the CR600, each one designed to meet the performance requirements of a different type of user.
Both systems are powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with the main difference that the CX600 has been built on a SiS-based platform, while the other boasts an NVIDIA-based chipset. Both systems can be featured with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 500GB SATA hard drive and a DVD Super-Multi optical drive. Additional specifications include the 1.3MP webcam, 10/100 LAN Ethernet, wireless 802.11 b/g/n and optional Bluetooth, 4-in-1 card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, D-SUB connector and a choice for a 6-cell or a 9-cell battery pack.
Kicking off with the CX600 model, MSI will provide users with a laptop that boats a 16-inch HD Ready 16:9, 1366 x 768 LED Backlight display. There's an on-board SIS 672DX+968 chipset that has been coupled with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 mobile graphics card, featuring 512MB of VRAM. The CR600 model is built on NVIDIA's MCP70MVL platform and boasts the integrated GeForce 8200M G graphics solution.
Unfortunately, MSI hasn't unveiled any details regarding the pricing of the fresh new laptops, but the systems should soon make their way on the shelves of retailers worldwide, joining the company's previously released 14-inch and 16-inch models.
