MSI Debuts Overclocked GeForce GT240 Cards

MSI, a leading vendor of computer components and systems, has announced today the debut of its new GeForce graphics cards, with the introduction of the new GeForce N250GT series. Equipped with the latest NVIDIA graphics processing unit and aimed at the mainstream and entry-level user, the new card will be available in two versions, with one being equipped with 512MB of GDDR5 memory and the other boasting a larger 1GB GDDR3 memory. Another difference between the two is that the first will be factory-overclocked and paired with the company's Afterburner overclocking software.

Built on the latest 40nm manufacturing process, the cards have been equipped with NVIDIA's GeForce GT215 graphics processing unit, which includes 96 processing cores, 128-bit memory interface and factory-overclocked GPU and memory. All cards have been featured with D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI connectivity and make use of MSI's Military Class Components (such as Hi-C CAP for the GPU, all solid CAPs, Golden SSCs (Solid State Chockes) or 'regular' SSCs), ensuring a stable performance for end-users.

As far as clock speeds and features go, the trio comes with GPU and shader frequencies that have been set at 550MHz and 1340MHz, respectively, while the memory is set at 1580MHz (the N240GT-MD1G), 3400MHz (N240GT-MD512/D5) and 3600MHz (N240GT-MD512-OC/D5). In addition, the three cards have also been equipped with support for the latest DirectX 10.1 applications, providing mainstream users with the necessary hardware support to play the latest gaming titles on the market.

Unfortunately, there's no word on the pricing details of the new cards, but given that the holiday season is just days away, you might see these new GeForce cards in some special bundles or at special prices. Featuring a dual-slot cooling solution and a low-profile black PCB, these cards should make for an excellent choice when building a new HTPC or mainstream desktop PC.
