Taiwanese notebook maker MSI has recently announced the launch of a new series of portable computer systems dubbed the “Classic” notebook series. As part of the new family, the company debuted three new laptops, featuring 14-inch and 17-inch displays. The new CR400, CX700 and CR700 have been designed to provide users with a choice for a portable personal computer that can deliver the necessary performance and features for everyday computing.
Kicking off with the 14-inch model (1366 x 768), the CR400, MSI will offer users an Intel-powered system that has been built on NVIDIA's MCP79MVL, meaning that it will be made available with the integrated GeForce 8200M G graphics solution. Additionally, the system can be equipped with up to 4GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM, a 500GB hard drive, 2 high-quality speakers, Super-Multi optical drive, a 1.3MP webcam, 4-in-1 card reader and the usual array of connectivity options. It can be featured with 6-cell and 9-cell battery packs and it weighs in at approximately 2kg, with the 6-cell battery.
As part of the new series, MSI launched two new 17-inch laptops, the CX700, based on a SiS platform, and the CR700, based on the aforementioned NVIDIA chipset. Both models will be powered by Intel's Core 2 Duo processors and can be equipped with up 4GB of DDR2 memory and a 500GB hard drive. The CX700 features the ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330, 512MB graphics chip, while the CR700's 1600x900 display will be powered by the integrated GeForce 8200M G graphics chip.
Aside from that, both systems come equipped with a Super-Multi optical drive, a 1.3MP webcamera, 4-in-1 card reader, built-in Gigabit Ethernet LAN, wireless 802.11 b/g/n and optional Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a number of ports that include a D-Sub connector, 3 USB 2.0 ports, mic-in and headphone out, ExpressCard and HDMI.
Although no details regarding the pricing and availability of these systems have been made available, both of them will provide users with a choice for a 6-cell or a 9-cell battery pack.
