Micro-Star International has already unveiled the Classic Series
CR410 AMD-based laptop, and it seems that the company is ready to address the other side of the field. In a move that promotes Intel's own mobile platform, the PC supplier has issued a press release detailing the CX720, the latest Classic Series model to make its appearance. This machine has a larger screen than the other laptop and employs the so-called “wedge craftsmanship” which uses 45 degree angles that confer a unified feel upon the device.
The Intel HM55 chipset supports Intel Arrandale CPUs, otherwise known as Core i Series chips. The mobile computer has a screen of 17.3-inches with a native resolution of 1,600 x 900 pixels (HD). This display is handled by the NVIDIA GeForce 310M discrete graphics card with a memory of 1GB DDR3. MSI also added up to 4GB of DDR3-1333 and a hard disk drive, whose capacity can be of 250GB, 320GB or 500GB.
Needless to say, the machine includes the full set of connectivity and i/O options one would expect in any self-respecting laptop. Thus, a 4-in-1 card reader is present, as is a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a pair of speakers and one subwoofer. Also, one will find 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth V2.1+EDR, as well as a HDMI and D-Sub video outputs.
“MSI Notebook Marketing Director Sam Chern noted that the CX720 is MSI's latest offering and features Intel's newest Arrandale notebook platform and an all-new 2010 Intel Core processor with HM55 chipset. The CX720's exterior structure is based on MSI's exclusive wedge craftsmanship," states the official announcement.
The Msi Classic CX720 measures 414 × 267 × 37.2 mm, weighs 3 kilograms and features Color Film print coating on the palm rest and lid. Unfortunately, pricing and availability were not elaborated upon.
