MSI, one of the world's leading vendors of computer hardware and ultraportable computer systems, has announced today the expansion of its X-Slim family of ultraportable, ultrathin computer systems, with the introduction of the new X410 model. Meant to provide consumers with an alternative to the extended range of Intel CULV-based laptops, the new machine has been designed to take advantage of AMD's second-generation Neo platform, boasting support for 1080p high resolution and increased battery life. The new system boasts a 14-inch display and weighs in at just 1.5kg, with battery.

Unlike MSI's first bunch of X-Slim laptops, the new system has been designed on an AMD RS690E + SB600 chipset, supporting a low-power AMD Athlon Neo processor, combined with the ATI Radeon X1250 graphics chip. The laptop is featured with 14-inch HD 1366 x 768 pixel LCD monitor and supports a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 memory.

Much like the majority of other ultrathin laptops, the new X410 from MSI offers a number of additional features that enable it to deliver support for a basic computing experience. These features include two built-in speakers, 1.3MP webcam, Gigabit LAN Ethernet, optional Bluetooth, wireless 802.11 b/g/n and support for a large capacity 500GB SATA hard disk drive. The laptop also comes with the usual array of connectivity options, including HMI, 2-in-1 card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, D-Sub, mic-in and headphone out.

Measuring just 349 x 234 x24.5 mm and sporting a total system weight of approximately 1.5kg, the new X-Slim laptop from MSI offers a choice for a 4-cell or 8-cell battery pack. Its slim exterior design hasn't allowed for a built-in optical drive, a feature that is common for this type of devices.

Unfortunately, the Taiwanese company hasn't delivered any specific details regarding the pricing and availability of its new ultraportable, ultrathin X-Slim system.
