Just days away from the Computex 2009 kickoff, MSI has decided to update its line of portable computer systems with the introduction of two 17-inch models, part of the company’s gaming and entertainment series. Both systems have been designed on the Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform and provide users with a choice for discrete graphics solutions for an enhanced visual experience for both gaming and digital entertainment applications.

First off, we have the new MSI GT729 gaming laptop, featuring a 17-inch LCD screen, powered by the discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850 graphics card, which features 1GB of DDR3 memory and is ready to provide you with support for the latest PC games on the market. In addition, the system has been powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, coupled with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and a large-capacity 500GB hard disk drive. Additional features include a 4 speakers + 1 subwoofer audio system, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, HDMI, 4-in-1 card reader and a choice for a 6- or 9-cell battery pack.

With the new EX723 entertainment notebook, MSI has designed a system that takes advantage of the latest Centrino 2 technology, coupled with an NVIDIA GeForce G110M GPU and a 17-inch WXGA+ LCD screen. The laptop can be equipped with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and a large 320GB hard disk drive. As with the gaming-ready GT729, the EX723 comes with a 4 Speakers and 1 Subwoofer audio system, a 2.0MP webcam, modem, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, eSATA and an optional Blu-ray optical drive.

MSI hasn't yet announced the pricing and availability details of its new portable systems. However, if you find yourself in Taiwan next week, there's a good chance the company will showcase its new laptops along with additional products.
