MSI, one of the world's leading manufacturers of computer motherboards, announced today two new mobos designed to provide gaming enthusiasts with the necessary power and features required by today's PC gaming applications. The company's new motherboards have been specifically designed to take advantage of the performance capabilities of AMD's latest 45nm Phenom II processors and DDR3 memory. The new mobos, dubbed 790FX-GD70 and 790GX-G65, have been designed on AMD's 790FX and 790GX chipsets, respectively.

Both mobos are part of MSI's gaming lineup, offering a number of features that will enable system builders and users alike to create a high-performance desktop system. They provide support for ATI's CrossFireX technology and are built with AMD's SB750 southbridge, offering support for High-Quality 7.1-channel audio, 12 USB 2.0 ports and an IEEE 1394a connector (optional on the 790GX-G65 model).

As far as technical specifications go, the 790FX-equipped MSI mobo can provide its users with an impressive 4 PCI-E x16 slots, with support for multi-GPU graphics enabled by ATI's CrossFireX technology. Users can install up to 16GB of dual-channel DDR3 1333 memory. Additional features include a DrMOS chipset, APS (Active Phase Switching) technology, 8 SATA II and 1 eSATA with support for RAID 0/1/0+1/5, 2 PCI-E x1 and 2 PCI slots.

On the other hand, there's the 790GX-G65, which comes with an integrated GPU, providing users with out-of-the-box support for a high-performance desktop computer system. Thanks to the integration of AMD's 790GX chipset, the mobo is capable of offering support for Hybrid CrossFireX technology, which will enable better system graphics with the user required to only install a discrete graphics card. The board is equipped with the integrated Radeon HD 3300 GPU, offering support for DirectX 10 applications and providing DVI, HDMI and D-Sub connectivity. There are only 5 SATA II and 1 eSATA with RAID 0/1/0+1/5 support and two PCI-Express x16 slots.

The Taiwanese manufacturer is yet to unveil the pricing and availability details of its latest AMD-based motherboards.
