Shortly after we announced that Gigabyte has made official its line of 990FX Bulldozer motherboards, it has come to our attention that MSI has also released the 990FXA-GD80 and 990FXA-GD65 boards based on AMD's flagship chipset.

Both of these motherboards have been detailed before on our website, and they target high-end users who want a no compromise AMD FX system.

According to MSI, these boards are compatible with all AM3+ processors, with a TDP as high as 140 Watts, and are certified to be compatible with Nvidia's SLI and AMD's CrossFireX multi-GPU technologies.

Just as its name implies, the 990FXA-GD80 is the most powerful AM3+ motherboard in MSI's lineup and it features no less than four PCI Express x16 slots, which are accompanied by two PCI Express x1 slots as well as by a single legacy PCI slot.

Users also get six SATA 6Gbps ports that are driven by the SB950 chip, a 10-phase power design, two eSATA ports, a pair of USB 3.0, 7.1-channel audio (THX Studio Pro-enabled) and an on-board header for two other USB 3.0 ports.

All throughout the board, MSI has placed various overclocking friendly features, including OC Genie, Power and Reset buttons, a BIOS debug LCD and a rear mounted Clear CMOS switch.

The second motherboard to be released by MSI includes only two PCI Express x16 ports, but it partially makes up for this by including no less than four PCI-E x1 slots.

There is also a legacy PCI slot fitted right near the margin of the board as well as six SATA 6Gbps ports driven by the AMD SB950 south bridge controller.

Other features include two rear mounted USB 3.0 ports, a 10-phase PWM and 8.1 channel audio, but the motherboard lacks more advanced features such as the OC Genie overclocking.

No details regarding pricing were made available by MSI, but these will most certainly be disclosed at the upcoming Computex 2011 fair.
