Monstrous amounts of memory may not be as relevant as some may think, but those enthusiasts that want to shatter any and all performance conventions will likely be interested in just how much RAM a certain MSI platform can cope with.

With the new platforms that Advanced Micro Devices has unleashed even before CES 2011, the 890FX chipset, as well as its siblings, might not show up in many new designs.

Still, even though they are now, technically, previous-generation platforms, they will definitely not totally disappear any time soon, as already existing boards will definitely keep selling.

The 890FX itself is of the highest caliber, and a certain, quite new motherboard form Micro-Star International proves it.

The platform in question is the 890FXA-GD65 and has now been revealed to be capable of handling twice as much RAM than what the official listing implies.

The product page basically says 16 GB is the maximum supported by the four DIMM slots, which is already a massive amount, more than anyone but the most hardcore of enthusiasts would even bother with.

Turns out that, as reports have it, the mainboard can actually cope with twice as much of that DDR3-2133+ RAM, 32 GB.

Coupled with the endurance provided by Military Class Components, as well as features like DrMOS and APS (Active Phase Switching), this should actually fulfill any overclocker's dream, at least to some extent.

Of course, all the other features of a motherboard are present, like the inherent AM3 processor support and a pair of PCI Express x16 slots, for multi-GPU setups.

Other specifications include six SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 channel audio, two USB 3.0 ports and the Winki instant-on OS.

Those wishing to see any and all information available need only drop by the aforementioned product page, located here. Online retailers should have it available for pre-order at 130.54 Euro.
