MSI, one of the largest Taiwanese manufacturers of computer hardware products, has recently launched new notebooks designed to meet the requirements of today's gaming users. With these two additions, MSI is taking a step forward, in line with its competitors, which have already launched their Intel Centrino 2-based notebooks.

The GX620 and the GX720 are the company's newest gaming-ready portable computer systems, which present users with features such as integrated Blu-ray and the latest in mobile graphics performance. Both products have similar sets of features, with just two significant differences noticeable in their screen size and speaker configuration. While the GX620 boasts a 15-inch display and two speakers, the GX720 is equipped with a 17-inch display, 4 speakers and a subwoofer. The latter is ideal for more pretentious users who are on the lookout for a high-quality multimedia system.

Performance-wise, both notebooks are built using an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and up to 4 GB of system memory. In terms of graphics, these portable systems are equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT GPU, which packs 512MB of graphics memory. Whichever of the two models users will go for, they will still benefit from up to 320GB of storage space.

The "quick launch touch sensors" appear to be one of the most interesting features of the two notebooks. That is because they are used to fire up MSI's Turbo Drive Engine, an overclocking technology of which most gaming users will probably take full advantage. The "quick launch touch sensors" are also used to power the ECO Engine Management, which MSI describes as an energy saving function that lets users choose between five different operating modes to conserve battery life.

Both notebooks are housed in an alloy case that comes with certain distinct design touches, including red accents, a design feature common to all of MSI's gaming notebooks. There's no word on pricing for the new additions just yet, but they should soon arrive at different retailers.
