With Script Junkie, Microsoft is expanding MSDN with a web-focused developer hub. According to S. Somasegar, Senior Vice President, Developer Division, the new learning hotspot on MSDN is designed to enable developers to access free resources standards based web technologies.

“Learning HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and other web standards technologies can be daunting,” Somasegar
stated.

“The languages, libraries, and interfaces can be complex, and successful development and debugging techniques can be difficult to find among the scrapyard of unsuccessful methods,” he added.

Script Junkie is set up to resolve problems associated with the complexities of web standards technologies.

Visiting the website will make it clear that the project has HTML, CSS, and JavaScript at the core. However, Microsoft is also offering a code gallery, a forum, and last but not least, the chance to be a part of a community of web developers.

“MSDN's goal has always been to help the developer get their job done more efficiently, and Script Junkie brings that assistance to web-based coding,” Somasegar said.

“Script Junkie is the start of a new generation of centers on MSDN focused on offering the best of Microsoft and non-Microsoft resources to address real life and practical end-to-end developer scenarios.”

The promise from Microsoft is that new content will be added to the website on a regular basis.

In fact, the Redmond company is ready to welcome new contributors to Script Junkie. The software giant indicated that authors of articles, screencasts, and code samples need to get in contact, and discuss how they can share their work.

“The Script Junkie Gallery allows developers to contribute their best code ideas and share them with fellow developers in a variety of formats including free-form article style, uploaded code samples and videos,” reads an excerpt of the site’s description.

“Each contribution is licensed to you under a License Agreement by its owner, not Microsoft. Microsoft does not guarantee the contribution or purport to grant rights to it.”
