Everyone who has ever daydreamed (or has had a nightmare ) of being one day able to run Microsoft Office on the Linux operating system should come to their senses and face the facts.
Despite Microsoft's interest in studying the way Linux works and how they would be able to integrate their products with this platform, there is no chance that MS Office will ever get a Linux version.
The statement, belonging to Nick McGrath, Director of Platform Strategy for Microsoft UK, was made during the LinuxWolrd
Conference and Expo event in London.
The issue was pointed out by one of the participants at the software seminary, who asked that as long as there is a MS Office version for Mac, why shouldn't there be one for Linux?
Nick McGrath gave a radical answer: "We have no plans at this present moment in time to deploy or build a version of Microsoft Office on Linux.".
Not so long ago, Bill Gates said that he was satisfied with the sales performances of the Mac MS suite, but it seems that when it comes to Linux, the company is suddenly losing interest.
Microsoft is already preparing the next version of MS Office, Office 12, whose beta version might appear in November and the company hopes that it will encourage the migration towards Windows Vista.
The truth is that if there was a Linux version of MS Office, many users would give up on Windows.
