Motorola announced on Thursday the launch of its first Android-based handset, the Motorola CLIQ, which will come to the market with the company's proprietary MOTOBLUR solution, delivering a new approach to the social lives of mobile phone users. According to the company, MOTOBLUR has been designed to easily deliver contacts, posts, messages, photos to the handset's home screen, while syncing them from various sources, including Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Gmail, email or LastFM.

With the new solution designed for Motorola's Android devices, users will find it easy to manage their lives, while enjoying more spare time. “With MOTOBLUR we are differentiating the Android experience for consumers by delivering a unique mobile device experience designed around the way people interact today,” said Sanjay Jha, co-CEO of Motorola and CEO of Motorola Mobile Devices. “MOTOBLUR, which will be available on our first Android-powered device and on multiple Android devices in our upcoming portfolio, helps us to create phones that are instinctive, social and smart.”

Conversation threads, friend updates, stories, links, photos and other more, all are delivered to the home screen via widgets. All aspects of life can be easily organized this way, Motorola notes, as users will have Happenings, that delivers social site updates, Messages, bringing together e-mails, social site messages and texts, Social Status, to update the status on all networks at the same time, News Feeds, to stay informed on different areas of interest, or a Calendar widget that can integrate the work calendar with Google Calendar directly on the home screen.

MOTOBLUR can do even more for its users. Contacts are automatically synced to the phone from the user's email or social networking sites, and both the profile and status of the contact are shown on the screen when making or receiving a call. In addition, users can easily view the communication history of a contact, so that one can stay up to date on friends at all time. Moreover, Motorola also says that “all contacts, log-in information, home screen customizations, e-mail and social network messages are backed up on the MOTOBLUR secure server.” This way, users won't have to worry about losing a phone, as all the info they need will be available for them on the next MOTOBLUR handset.

Not to mention the array of applications that are available for the Android operating system and that can be accessed from any MOTOBLUR device at the Android Market, or the pre-loaded Google services users will enjoy. Custom home screens can be created at all times through the addition of applications or widgets, so that users will get the experience that fits them best. As stated above, the MOTOBLUR will come to the market on Motorola's CLIQ handset in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year.
