weComm announced that it has worked with Motorola to offer its Sky Anytime on Mobile application pre-installed on the soon-to-be-launched MOTO Z8 handset.

Sky Anytime on Mobile is an interactive mobile TV application (developed for BSkyB) that extends Sky?s digital TV experience to the mobile platform. Besides offering access to an on-demand library of updating news, entertainment and sports, Sky?s application also provides an access point for Sky?s range of live mobile TV services. There are now over 30 TV channels streamed over 3G networks supported by in-stream program information and fast channel switching. The Anytime application also allows all customers to use their mobile phone to program their Sky+ boxes remotely, place bets through SkyBet and search their full 7-day electronic program guide.

"The MOTO Z8 takes the consumer entertainment experience to a new level, making Sky Anytime on Mobile a natural choice to include pre-installed on UK handsets," said Ian Meakin, VP Marketing & Alliances at weComm. "We are delighted to have been involved in bringing two of the biggest brands together to deliver a best-in-class interactive mobile TV solution. Both the application and the device epitomise a high-quality, rich media converged mobile experience."

The MOTO Z8 is the first 'kick-slider' smartphone, running on the Symbian UIQ platform and combines Motorola?s signature design with video capture/playback and hi-fi audio quality. The Z8 comes with a QVGA 16 million color TFT display, 80MB of internal memory, microSD card slot and a 2 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom. The handset is expected to hit the shelves in Europe in June and as a bonus feature, it will come with a 512MB memory card (included in the box) pre-loaded with a full-length feature film - "The Bourne Identity" - from Universal Pictures.
