Super Talent Technology announced today the launch of a new line of MasterDrive SSDs (Solid State Drives), fully interchangeable with hard disk drives (HDDs). The new SSDs launched by the company, a world leading manufacturer of DRAM memory modules and Flash storage solutions, are much faster and lighter, and also use less power, are more rugged, and offer more reliablility than other similar storage solutions.

MasterDrive SSDs don't use magnetic platters as a storage medium, but rather NAND Flash, which provides more advantage than the usual HDDs. Having no moving parts, the drives are much lighter than HDDs, and are also completely silent and offer more reliability. Power consumption is considerably low, only a fraction comparing to HDDs, meaning that they offer longer battery life in mobile solutions and produce by far less heat. MasterDrive SSDs have a standard 2.5-inch form factor and use a SATA-II (3Gbps) interface and support high bandwidth and extended compatibility with motherboards

"These new SSDs are a rugged, lightning fast, low power storage alternative for mobile professionals and enthusiasts. With such overwhelming benefits, MasterDrive SSDs are sure to revolutionize mobile storage," commented Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James.

The sequential read and write speeds of MasterDrive DX drives rise up to 120 and 70 MB/sec respectively, as the SSDs employ SLC NAND Flash. The drives come with a a three year warranty offer. MasterDrive MX features a maximum of sequential read/write speeds of 120 and 40 MB/sec through the use of MLC Flash. These SSDs are backed with one year warranty. All MasterDrive SSDs are already available from NewEgg and eWiz.

The estimated prices for MasterDrive MX SSDs range from $299 for the FTM30GK25H model featuring 30GB MLC and 120/40 MB/sec read/write speed, to $449 FTM60GK25H, the 60GB MLC model, and $699 for the FTM20GK25H model offering 120GB MLC storage space. MasterDrive DX models are more expensive, starting from $699, for the FTD30GK25H SSD featuring 30GB SLC and 120/70 MB/sec, and going up to $1299 for the 60GB SLC model, FTD60GK25H.

Super Talent Technology Corporation designs and manufactures Flash storage solutions as well as a full range of DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 memory modules, both for computers and consumer electronics. The company is also the manufacturer of the ultra-rugged DuraDrive SSDs which come in capacities up to 256GB.
