MJ Penner Consulting, a web development company, commissioned the creation of MJP Security Tools, a plugin that’s designed to address a number of security issues that might affect WordPress sites.

Developed by zackdesign and ElbertF, the plugin contains features such as file permissions checking, POST requests and failed login logging, and the limitation of user login attempts.

MJP Security Tools also checks if all directories contain an index.html file and if the WordPress installation is up to date.

It also scans the database for potential cross-site scripting issues, it removes the version number from the HTML source, it forces users to opt for strong passwords, and it changes the admin username to ensure that the credentials are not easy to guess by cybercriminals.

Finally, the plugin randomizes database table prefixes and detects the presence of SSH support.
