MINIX has recently released a new firmware update for its NEO G4 pocket PCs. The improved Android 4.1.1 comes in two separate packages, one for the NEO-G4-108A and one for the NEO-G4-108C.

A recommendation that comes from MINIX is that you look twice before updating the firmware. The 108A and 108C are different and, if flashed to the wrong device, may cause malfunctions.

The release notes are common and mention the support addition for new infrared controllers, various improvements on video playback and the possibility for rtp, udp video streaming.

Inside the archive there are a few warnings from MINIX regarding the update method. Therefore, one must never use the “Upgrade” mode during the updates, but the “Restore” button in order to avoid any flash corruption.

There is also a USB driver, the Flash Tool, firmware image file and release notes. Be sure to check the instructions before updating.

Download the firmware from the links below, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
