Hideo Kojima, the leader of the development team working on the Metal Gear Solid series, says that at one point during the creation process for the new The Phantom Pain, he considered using a 1980 movie filter in order to add a vintage look to the entire experience.
The game maker says on Twitter that the problem was that the overlay caused some technical issues and it would have taken his team too long to solve them.
Metal Hear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will take place in 1984 and it seems that the idea for the filter was created when Kojima saw the movie Rush.
This year, gamers will be able to play the prologue called Ground Zeroes, which will set up the core story of the title and can be apparently completed in about two hours if gamers follow just the critical path.
The Phantom Pain does not currently have a launch window.
(CONT) But when we actually implemented full screen effect, it was too heavy that slowed the system down so we had to take it out.
