The
MCNLive project is a 100% FREE Linux operating system based on Mandriva Linux and it's designed for both notebook and desktop systems. MCNLive is a LiveCD that can run directly form a CD or USB stick, and because of this, you can carry your "computer" wherever you go. What makes it so special? It has automatic hardware detection, no hard drive installation is required, it's secure, fast, comfortable and it looks great.
The latest release of MCNLive, called Delft, has the following changes compared to previous versions:
■ Fixed 'Remaster Live - advanced' wizard;
■ Disabled the non-free urpmi sources to prevent the gaga messages from the drakxtools. Can be re-enabled with a click in MCC;
■ Minor cosmetic changes, html pages NL translations and general cleanup.
Highlights of MCNLive Delft release include:■ Based on and 100% compatible with Mandriva Linux 2007.1 Spring;
■ WIFI drivers;
■ 3D desktop powered by Beryl, Compiz and Metisse;
■ KDE desktop with a set of Internet, Video/Audio software, games. Includes applications like: Opera 9.20, Midnight Commander, K3b, gnomad2;
■ 4 languages preinstalled: English (default), Dutch, French, Italian;
■ Install additional software live, preconfigured sources;
■ Graphical wizard to create a Live USB on a USB stick or external hard disk;
■ copy2ram software allows you to run the entire system from internal memory;
■ Install to hard disk, with the Mandriva draklive-install wizard;
■ Make your own live version on-the-fly, while running from CD or from USB;
■ You can switch to a different language on-the-fly or add some missing languages.
However, MCNLive Delft has also some weak points, like:
■ The 3D desktop works only for most Intel and ATI cards;
■ It doesn't include closed source Nvidia and ATI graphic drivers;
■ No Office Suite included;
■ No printer drivers included.
