MCE Technologies has introduced the 6X Blu-ray Recordable Drive for Mac Pro and Power Mac. Blu-ray Discs are able to record some 25GB of data on their single-layer version, and 50GB on the dual-layer version, and they are the next-generation in optical disc storage.

The MCE Technologies 6X Blu-ray Internal Recordable Drive is compatible with all DVD and CD recordable media including DVD±R/RW + Dual/Double Layer, DVD-RAM, and CD-R and CD-RW, in addition to writing to 25GB single-layer at up to 6X speed and to 50GB dual-layer Blu-ray discs at up to 4X speed.
Moreover, the MCE Technologies 6X Blu-ray Internal Recordable Drive reads HD DVD-ROM discs as well as burn LightScribe labels onto compatible DVD or CD media, while the drive has a 4MB buffer for writing Blu-ray Disc and DVD media. Buffer Underrun protection is also built-in, according to MCE Technologies.
Mac Pro / Power Mac users can purchase the 6X Blu-ray Recordable Drive immediately for $499. The price includes a 25GB Blu-ray BD-RE rewritable disc for instant storage starting. However, you may also benefit from a 20 percent discount if you purchase the drive bundled with Toast 9 Titanium + Toast BD/HD Plug-in for $599. A full, professional Blu-ray production package bundled with Adobe Premier Pro CS3 is also available from MCE Technologies' web site for $1,295.00.
