MATE 1.6.1 Adds Support for More Applets
This is a simple maintenance release of the MATE 1.6 stable branch
The development team behind MATE, a fork of the GNOME 2 desktop environment, released a few minutes ago, May 13, the first maintenance version of the stable MATE 1.6 desktop environment.MATE 1.6.1 removes GNU cat, improves comments, fixes empty string values in mate-conf-import and adds: support for automake 1.13, an initial script to migrate MATE 1.4 configurations, a hack for new background paths in the mate-conf script and support for action applets.
Moreover, MATE 1.6.1 now verifies if an applet or object file exists; adds makefile and desktop file; checks if mateconf files exist and are valid before using them; adds support for: matecomponent-applet, different default panel layouts and more applets and the default profile of mate-terminal.
Last but not least, the g_type_init() deprecation has been fixed for Glib 2.36, and mate-conf-import has been disabled by default.
