Back in early May, US-based convenience store chain MAPCO Express started notifying customers that their credit card details might have been compromised in a data breach.

Hackers had planted a piece of malware on the payment processing systems from several stores, allowing them to harvest credit and debit card details. The company called in law enforcement to investigate the breach, and almost immediately notified customers.

Now, CSP Daily News reports that a man from Northport, Alabama, has filed a class-action lawsuit against the convenience store chain.

It’s uncertain if the plaintiff, Ian Yeager, is a victim of fraud perpetrated with the aid of the stolen information. However, Yeager is unhappy with the fact that MAPCO failed to protect its customers’ financial information.

As a result, he seeks compensation for those affected by the breach.
