Sony's Massive Action Game (MAG) will be on the receiving end of a brand new downloadable content pack, in the form of the Escalation expansion, which was previously tested during the game's beta stage last summer.

MAG players have already received a lot of new changes to the multiplayer only first person shooter, as the massive 2.0 update was released at the end of September, bringing new features as well as support for the PlayStation Move motion control system.

Now, the developers at Zipper Interactive have announced that the Escalation DLC will be launched on November 2 on the PlayStation Store.

The new add-on pack will be adding support for up to 96 players at the same time in a new type of deathmatch mode between the three factions.

"Escalation gameplay is set up in two phases: For phase one, all three teams battle to hold the map’s A, B and C objectives — but when any of the three PMCs gains control of two of the three objectives, phase two begins. In this second phase, the original three objectives are locked and a new fourth objective (D) opens up."

"Now, the PMC that forced the phase shift must defend objective D against both attacking groups as long as possible; if D is lost, then play reverts back to phase one again and the war continues on until we have a winner or time runs out," revealed the development studio in a post on the PlayStation Blog

Three maps will be added for the Escalation mode, Isla de Magma, Silverback Ridge and Radiant Barrens, as well as three new weapons for each faction, an assault rifle, a machine gun and a sniper rifle.

Last but not least, in order to celebrate the release of the Escalation DLC, Sony will also be offering two special offers on the PlayStation Store.

-Interdiction Add-on Pack: Now $4.99 (US); reduced from original price of $9.99 (US) -MAG Starter Kit: $14.99 (US): An almost $30 (US) value and everything new MAG users could want: Interdiction and Escalation Add-on packs, a 30-day trial for MAG character slots B and C, six official MAG PS3 avatars that sport Raven, SVER, and Valor characters and badges, and three dynamic PS3 themes (one for each PMC).

MAG will get the Escalation add-on pack on November 2, in the North American PlayStation Store, and will cost 10 U.S. dollars.
