We've been keeping an eye on the revolutionary Lytro Light Field Camera ever since its first introduction, back in October, 2011.

Now, we can finally pass on that piece of good news we've been waiting for: the product is shipping to customers.

The camera is unique in that it captures the entire light field, leading to pictures of 16MB and resolution of 11 Megarays (the number of light rays captured by the light field sensor).

What's more, each photo can be re-focused and re-zoomed after their taking, hence their “living pictures” nickname.

If you want a more detailed description, we have one set up and ready to be gazed upon here, where we even speak of the wireless support (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi).

Lytro has posted some videos exhibiting the product's assets. The one embedded above is the basic introduction, but there are two others.

Go here to buy a model, colored in red, graphite or blue, assuming you have the cash: $399 / 299 Euro (8 GB storage) or $499 / 374 Euro (16 GB).
