Harmonix and MTV Games, the two companies which are in charge of the fortunes of the Rock Band franchise, have announced that this week three artists are set to be contributing songs to the Rock Band 3 Music Store, which can be accessed from the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.

The main attraction of the downloadable content that is offered are Lynyrd Skynyrd, a band which is featured on the Rolling Stone created 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list, while also being indicted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Fans of their style can find their most famous songs, “Free Bird”, on the disk for Rock Band 3 and if they are itching to play more content from the band they can now download the following tracks: “Saturday Night Special”, “Sweet Home Alabama (Live)”, “What’s Your Name?” and “Tuesday’s Gone”.

The first three songs on the list are designed to make full use of the Pro Modes which Rock Band 3 has introduced for both guitar and bass.

The DLC also includes “Hold on Loosely” played by 38 Special, a band of American rockers, and “Can’t Get Enough” from Bad Company, an English band, with both the tracks allowing Pro mode play.

The entire Lynyrd Skynyrd Pack 01 can be bought for the price of 560 Microsoft Points, which is the equivalent of 700 Wii Points and 6.99 dollars.

Those who like to pick individual tracks can pick one up for 1.99 dollars or the equivalent in Microsoft and Nintendo funny money, with the upgrade for Pro Guitar and Pro Bass costing 0.99 dollars.

Rock Band 3 has been launched this fall by Harmonix and MTV Games and aims to bring gamers closer to real life music playing than ever before in the series, while also offering support for keyboards for the first time.
