One of the most anticipated product launches of 2009 is represented by Intel's upcoming Lynnfield processors, which are expected to debut later this year, alongside the company's new socket for mainstream platforms, the LGA 1156. Although there's still some time left until the chip maker gives the official go for launch on the new processors, a number of leaked details on said chips recently surfaced on the Internet. One of the newest leaks comes from a Chinese website, which has just published some early benchmark results on two of the upcoming processors, namely the Core i5 750 and the Core i7 870.

Both CPUs have been designed to be compatible with the chip maker's LGA 1156 platform and, according to PConline, both will outperform AMD's Phenom II X4 955. The Core i5 750 will reportedly be capable of core speeds in the range of 2.66GHz and 3.2GHz, using the Turbo Boost and no Hyper-Threading technologies. The higher-performance Core i7 870 will run at 2.93GHz and is capable of reaching a top speed of 3.46GHz. This model will also be featured with support for Intel's Hyper-Threading technology for up to eight threads.

In terms of performance, the Core i7 870 appears to be able to outperform Intel's current Core i7 920, which has been built for the Socket LGA 1366 X58 platform. This model can be pushed to a core speed of 3.2GHz, thanks to the help of the company's Turbo Boost technology. As far as the Core i5 750 is concerned, this part looks to provide users with a power-efficient processor that manages to sit between the aforementioned Core i7 920 and the older Core 2 Quad Q9550, in terms of performance.

There are some issues related to the authenticity of these benchmark results, but it's nice to see we have some details on Intel's next-generation mainstream processors.
