Microsoft has recently announced that Lync is now available for Windows 8.1 users as a free download from the store, with the app coming with a touch-optimized UI and options supposed to make the most of the new OS version.

Lync for Windows 8.1 comes with support for the improved Snap View mode, so you can run the app side by side with other Modern apps, as well as lock screen features to answer audio and video calls when the device is locked.

At the same time, users are allowed to find contacts using the in-app search, while dedicated features make it possible to mute and control call volume from inside Lync.

Microsoft says that Lync is now being delivered to all Windows 8.1 users, so unless you have turned off the “Automatically update my apps” option in the store, the app should be there waiting for you to launch it.
