Companies looking to embrace the successor of Office Communication Server now have a free resource they can download from Microsoft to help streamline their deployment efforts.

The software giant has released a guide designed to help customers with the planning process associated with the deployment of Lync Server 2010 and Lync clients.

There are no less than 11 items that can be accessed on Microsoft’s Download Center, the 10 chapters of the guide as well as a ZIP archive containing all of the resources.

At the bottom of this article you will be able to find a list with all the chapters that make up the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Planning Guide, allowing you to see the major topics which the Redmond company has selected to focus the guidance on.

Microsoft released Lync 2010 at the end of last year, with customers being able to purchase the next generation communication solution as of December 1st, 2010.

Trial releases of Lync 2010 are also available for customers that wish to test the UC solution before committing to it. You will be able to find links below.

“Lync Server 2010 ushers in a new connected experience transforming communication into an interaction that is more collaborative, engaging, and accessible from virtually any location with internet connectivity,” Microsoft revealed.

“A single interface unites voice, IM, audio-, video-, and web-conferencing into a richer, more contextual offering, and a single identity makes it easier and more efficient for users to find contacts, check their availability, and connect with them.”
