One of the applications that Microsoft might soon put on various smartphones out there would be a Lync Mobile app, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, the Redmond-based company already has the application up and running, and all that remains to be seen is when it might be launched on the market.

The mobile software was demoed during the TechED New Zealand conference, the guys over at WMPoweruser discovered through the video embedded at the bottom of this article.

After having a close look at the video, users will learn some interesting details on the upcoming application, including the fact that it might become available for download in the fourth quarter of the year.

The application will be released on Windows Phone devices, and will even include a series of features and capabilities specific to this mobile platform, but it will not be available exclusively on Microsoft's mobile OS.

Apparently, the software giant also plans on releasing the app on devices that run under iOS, Android and Symbian.

On Windows Phone, the application could be integrated into the People and Messaging hub, the same as it happened with the Windows Live Messenger.

Through this application, users will be able to enjoy both audio and video communication, depending on the phone capabilities.

Basically, this means that Windows Phones with front facing cameras are a go, since they will be able to take full advantage of this application.

Other devices out there already have similar features and capabilities included inside, through various applications and services, and it was only natural for its Windows Phone devices to receive them as well.

Chances are that Microsoft will be targeting the new application to enterprise users, especially with its availability on all major mobile operating systems out there. For the time being, no official announcement on this has been made, but stay tuned for more info on the matter.
