While Microsoft’s unified communications solutions enable customers to give up their PBXs (private branch exchange), hardware is still required. As is the case with additional products, including Windows, the Redmond company has set up an "Optimized for Microsoft Lync" logo program for Lync 2010.

In addition, the software giant is also providing customers with resources designed to help them decide which of the software for Lync 2010 is best suited for their needs.

The “Unified Communications Phones and Peripherals Datasheets” are now live on the Microsoft Download Center, available free of charge.

“The powerful communication devices that are listed in these datasheets are optimized to work with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 and Microsoft Lync 2010, delivering communications solutions that are easy to deploy, use and manage,” the company said.

“Each datasheet provides information about each device, including: a thumbnail photo of the device; hardware type; name of the partner that produces the device; product name; a brief description of the device; URL for the partner's Unified Communications landing pages.”

There are no less than four PDF downloads offered to customers thinking about embracing Lync 2010.

The best thing about the resources provided by Microsoft is the fact that they provide comparisons of the best Lync Conference Room Devices, Lync IP Phones, Lync PCs and Lync USB Devices.

In this manner, business users can not only take advantage of the company’s UC solutions but also get the right hardware for Lync 2010.

“Microsoft Lync ushers in a new connected user experience transforming every communication into an interaction that is more collaborative, engaging, and accessible from anywhere,” Microsoft explained.

“For IT, the benefits are equally powerful, with a highly secure and reliable system that works with existing tools and systems for easier management, lower cost of ownership, smoother deployment and migration, and greater choice and flexibility.”
