I have to admit, this lamp looks a bit weird to me and, under any other circumstances, I wouldn't want it anywhere near my home.

However, it has one feature that makes me appreciate it: it is made from recycled materials.

Inhabitat reports that the cactus-shaped lamp, which was designed and manufactured by Studio Swine, is made from repurposed beverage bottles, pine cutoffs and whatever scrap materials the people who created it found lying on the streets of São Paulo, Brazil.

“Inspired by the Brazilian tropical modernism of the 1950’s Swine has transformed waste materials sourced from the city into a luxury design collection,” the artists comment on this project.

“São Paulo is known in scrap metal circles as the ‘Aluminium Capital’, collecting and recycling more cans than anywhere else in the world. The material's potential has been explored through sand casting,” they further detail.
