Both Lumia 930 and 1520 are now getting Denim

Microsoft started the Lumia Denim rollout in December, but since then, only a handful of devices have actually received the new firmware version despite rumors that all Windows Phones should be getting it by the end of January.

Basically, Microsoft started the rollout by shipping Denim to low-end devices, thus choosing to update its most popular devices and thus delay the release for flagships such as Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520.

But now it seems that flagships are also getting Denim across Europe and new reports coming from the continent claim that both models are being updated in several countries, including Germany and France.

Lumia Denim comes with a plethora of changes for phones' cameras and provides support for 4K recording, as well as features that were previously available in the Windows Phone 8.1 update, among which live folders and support for Cortana.

But in addition, it also includes the “Hey Cortana” option which allows users to wake up the personal assistant with a voice command and without the need to touch the phone at all.

Not all devices are getting Denim though

This week, Microsoft confirmed in an update on the Lumia Denim FAQ page that not all devices would be getting Denim, especially in the case of phones enrolled in the Preview for Developers program.

Microsoft says that, in few cases, there might be absolutely no change in firmware version, but Extras + Info could actually display Denim as up and running if your device is up to date.

“Lumia Denim is the marketing name for latest Lumia software update, which is a combination of firmware, OS (operating system) and Lumia exclusive applications. Exact contents coming with Lumia Denim vary depending on the device model, and some devices are not requiring new firmware for the new features to be enabled, so firmware can in some cases remain unchanged,” Microsoft adds.

Denim should be here for all devices by the end of the month, but keep in mind that this timing also depends on carrier approval.
