Screenshots confirming the upcoming update have recently leaked in China

A few days ago, a video highlighting some of the main features of the Lumia Black was released in Russia. Nothing out of the ordinary here, but at the end of the video, the narrator mentions something called Nokia Blue.

Well, many of us thought that would be the name of the Windows Phone 8.1 update, which is supposed to arrive sometime in the summer.

However, the information may not be entirely accurate and given the fact that video was released by Nokia Russia, we can’t confirm it.

Today, the folks over at WMPoweruser have just been tipped on another name for the next major update for Lumia smartphones.

It sounds unusual for an update to be released under two different names, which is why we think that one of the sources is wrong about the naming scheme for the Windows Phone 8.1 update for Lumia smartphones.

Well, according to several screenshots taken from the Nokia Lumia 630, which is expected to go on sale in China in mid-April, the next Windows Phone 8.1 update for Lumia handsets will be called Lumia Cherry Blossom Pink.

The name does seem unusually long for Nokia to use it, though anything is possible. Obviously, take this information with a grain of salt until Nokia and Microsoft confirm the name of the new Windows Phone 8.1 update for Lumia phones.

Aside from showing the Lumia Cherry Blossom Pink name tag, the leaked screenshots highlight some of the new features included in the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, which we have already discussed in previous articles.

Those who happen to know Chinese will certainly be able to translate what appears in these screenshots, but otherwise, the only things that might mean something are the category names.

Various connectivity options are included as well, such as the USB prompt for using data transfer via USB and a new setting that allows the phone to switch to mobile network when Wi-Fi connection is limited. But there’s also an option that prevents the phone from using the mobile network.

There are many who claim that the Cherry Blossom Pink name for the Windows Phone 8.1 update for Lumia phones makes much more sense than the Nokia Blue.

The reason is Nokia’s previous naming scheme pattern: Amber / Black and now Cherry Blossom Pink. Still, we won’t know for sure until the Finnish company makes it official, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
