14 DAY TRIAL // Nokia Lumia 822 owners rejoice, as the long-awaited Lumia Black update is now available for download for their devices. Verizon and Nokia have finally started the rollout of the update for the Lumia 822, so those using the smartphone should manually search for it.
According to WPCentral, the Lumia 822 owners should be looking for software version 3051.40000.1352.0042, which includes the Lumia Black update, along with its new features and improvements.
The information has been confirmed by Nokia's support software update site where Lumia Black for Verizon Lumia 822 shows as available.
Although the Big Red is known for deploying major updates for the smartphones in its portfolio rather late, it looks like this time, it hasn’t been the last to offer an upgrade that will be available at all US carriers.
Lumia Black update should bring lots of new features and improvements into the mix, including a new Driving mode which turns off all device notifications with the option of setting text and phone calls to “on” while connected to a handsfree Bluetooth accessory.
Moreover, once the update is applied, Verizon Lumia 822 will feature new accessibility options that are meant to assist people by reading information that is displayed on their screen, such as text and controls for phone calls, messaging, email, contacts and more.
Many new applications will be added along with Lumia Black, such as Bing apps (Bing Finance, News, Weather and Sports). Nokia and Microsoft have also improved the already existent multitasking capabilities, so expect enhanced experience when using this feature.
Last but not least, Windows Phone users who have update to Lumia Black will be able to take advantage of the Screen Orientation Lock, which allows them to switch between the portrait and landscape layout.
Obviously, these are just some of the new features included in this update for Verizon Lumia 822, but a lot more will be available after the upgrade.
