Microsoft is expected to launch new Windows Phones in the coming months. Although we got used with the Redmond-based company to launch mid-range smartphones, rumor has it that at least two of these four devices will be in the high-end range.

Dubbed Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL will ship with Windows 10 for Phones, which means they will be equipped with powerful processors.

While this information is not necessarily new, there's a new report claiming that a few of the details in the previous rumors aren't accurate and that Microsoft might have done a few changes regarding these phones' specs.

For example, the Lumia 940 was rumored to sport a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, but now Microsoft is considering embedding a slightly larger 5.2-inch screen.

The rest of the rumored specs remain the same

According to previous rumors, Lumia 940 XL, the bigger version of the Lumia 940, will come with a 5.7-inch display, which puts in the phablets category and a worthy successor of the Lumia 1520.

The new report claims both Lumia 940 versions will pack 24-25-megapixel cameras in the back and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Microsoft is also said to include some 3D-interaction features, Iris scanner and native Pen support on both Lumia smartphones.

No other information on the Lumia 940 has been leaked, but since these reports are coming from unconfirmed sources we recommend our reader to take it with a grain of salt.

In the same piece of news, Microsoft is also expected to launch a dual-SIM version of Lumia 830, but the timing is unknown. Given the fact that this information hasn't been confirmed yet, file this under rumors as well.

We expect more details on Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone handsets to emerge in the coming weeks, so these preliminary specs sheets might change as we're getting closer to launch.
