Microsoft is working on a more exquisite version of Lumia 830, that's supposed to appeal to those who're looking for something more than a simple Windows Phone device in a colorful case.

Spotted in China, the Lumia 830 Gold Edition is a new version of the phone, that features a gold case on the front and what seems to be a leather coating on the back. This doesn't mean that the phone is made of gold, as some might tend to believe, but only that it's painted in gold color.

According to Weibo user “Nokia171" (via NPU), this could be a limited-edition phone, and while everyone expects the handset to be available all over the world in just a few months, Microsoft might only release it in specific markets, where demand for such a device is high enough.

The affordable flagship

While no pricing details are available right now, there's no doubt that the Lumia 830 Gold Edition would be a bit more expensive than the standard model, which can be yours right now from Microsoft's website for $449.99 (€375) without a contract or for $99 (€75) with a new contract at AT&T.

Wondering how come Microsoft is not offering a Gold Edition for the flagships as well?

The answer is really hard to be determined, but the Lumia 830 simply seems more appropriate to get such a limited edition, not only because it's more affordable, but also because it comes with features that are missing on flagships, such as Glance screen.

Lumia 830 tech specs

At first glance, the Lumia 830 really seems to be a good phone, as it comes with a quad-core 1.2 GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal memory. MicroSD card support is also offered to add up to 128 GB of additional space.

The 830 comes with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720x1280px, as well as with Gorilla Glass 3 coating, and a removal 2200 mAh battery that can provide up to 14.8 hours of talk time in 3G mode.

A 10-megapixel camera with Zeiss optics and a 0.9-megapixel front unit are also offered on Microsoft's affordable flagship, and all these features are very likely to remain unchanged on the limited Gold Edition.
